Rev. Anne Vining
Senior Pastor
651-774-0344 ext. 16
Areas of responsibility: providing leadership in the areas of vision casting and strategic planning, communicating through preaching, teaching and writing, planning worship, empowering ministry teams (paid and unpaid), providing pastoral and benevolent care, serving on The Saint Paul Covenant board, the Covenant Retirement Communities national board and The Reconciliation Cohort team here in the Twin Cities.
I spent most of my life on the west side of the Twin Cities (with about a decade in Chicago, IL and Arvada, CO) until moving to the East Side in 2002. My husband, Gordy & I share our home with Curtis, a senior at Central High School, Charissa, a senior at North Park University, two cats—Lexi and Irene, and our newest love, Gabby, our rescue pup. Its been twenty years since I received my M.Div from North Park Theological Seminary but I look forward to returning to school this fall--Dog Obedience school. When not immersed in the life of First Covenant, I enjoy spring and summers at the baseball field, Friday nights in the fall at the Central football stadium, finding hot deals to escape to in the winter and getting to know a small group of women in my neighborhood through our monthly book club.
First Covenant Church continues to be a significant community where my family and I continue to grow in our relationships with Christ and with other Christ followers. I rarely feel I can keep up with all that God is doing in our midst—uniting us in common vision and then calling us out to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ , in our community and across the globe. It is exciting to see members of our congregation “get it” as God gets ahold of their heart, mind and soul.

Rev. Ted Nordlund
Minister of Visitation
I assist the Senior Pastor in pastoral care duties by visiting homebound and hospitalized members and friends of First Covenant Church.
I enjoy visiting those who have lived long and well in the context of the community and ministry of their church at First Covenant. First Covenant church values and honors those who have invested themselves over many years in this church and community.
I grew up in a pastor’s home, was born in southern Alabama, lived in Kansas, Oregon and San Francisco, California before moving to Chicago to attend college. I live in South Minneapolis about half way between downtown and the airport. I married my wife, Jeannine on June 14, 1968 which means that we will have been married 44 years on June 14, 2012. We have three children, two girls and the youngest a boy. All three of them are married and we have five and 1/2 grandkids.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology in 1966, Masters of Divinity in 1971 and my Doctor of Ministry degree in 2007. My current primary occupation is that of a Pastor to Pastors. I enjoy working with wood, singing and puttering around in my workshop.

Kate Makosky
Youth Minister
651-774-0344 ext. 18
I lead the Youth Ministry team at First Covenant. Along with a team of gifted interns and volunteers, I serve youth and their families in grades 6-12.
I am excited about the unique and tangible ways that First Covenant is making a difference on the East Side of Saint Paul. I love seeing youth grow in their faith through significant and safe relationships with peers and adults and ultimately become more fully the person that God created them to be. We have unique partnerships with our local schools, and I am blessed to be a part of those strategic relationships that both support our schools and support youth in our community.
I grew up in Kansas City (go Jayhawks!) and moved to the Twin Cities to attend Bethel University where I graduated from in 2006. I live right here on the East Side with my husband, Dan, and our two cats. I will be completing my Master of Divinity from Bethel Seminary in spring of 2013. I love baking, reading and being outdoors in my spare time!

Alicia Zepeda-Cervantes
Bookkeeper
651-774-0344 ext. 19
I’m responsible for accounts payable, payroll, and database management. I am excited that, even though I am not a member of FCC, the church community (co-workers and members) have always been welcoming and truly nurtured my spiritual growth over the years. My part-time position fits well with my other commitments at home and living less than a mile from where I work is also an added plus!
I was born and raised in St Paul, growing up in the West 7th area and moving to the Payne-Phalen neighborhood of the East Side during my teen years where I still live and work.
I graduated from Harding High School. I have a daughter attending Hamline University and recently married my honey of 8 years. I enjoy watching stand-up comedians like George Lopez and Gabriel Inglesias. I love to play pool (billiards) and wish I had the room to have a 6 foot pool table at my house.

Pat Kohnen
Organist, Keyboardist, Pianist
Part of the Music team to bring the Love of Jesus Christ thru music to our Christian community.
My walk with Jesus Christ started in my high school years due to a serious auto accident I was involved in. Growing up in the Midway area of St. Paul I attended Central High, Bethel College, and MacPhail School of Music. Through music God has given me many opportunities to serve Him. I’ve just completed a three year commitment to the Twin Cities American Guild of Organists Executive Board and am currently still serving on the Hospitality Committee.
My husband is John and we have 3 sons, Scott, Chris, Corey, great daughter-in-laws, and eight wonderful grandchildren. In my spare time I love to knit, crochet and read.
God called me to First Covenant about 9 years ago to live out His purpose. I am looking forward to the new challenges He gives us daily in doing His will.
May Jesus Christ Be Praised!!

Tricia LaMotte
Administrative Assistant
651-774-0344 ext 10
As the Administrative Assistant I do all sorts of odds and ends in the office: ordering supplies, answering phones, making copies (lots and lots of copies ) as well as working on the bulletins and newsletters. I enjoy working here in the church and the constantly changing projects every day.
I was born in Germany where my dad was stationed in the army and came back to Minnesota when I was 6. We moved around a lot when I was in school, and for a few years after. I moved to the east side in 2002 and have been here most of that time. I enjoy the diversity of the neighborhood and the people who live here. I started attending First Covenant Church in 2007 and started volunteering in the office in 2009 and started working here later that year.
I enjoy a lot of different hobbies including reading, writing, knitting, crocheting and watching movies. I get together with friends each week for game night and nanny for one of my friends. The people in my life are the reason I am happy. Through the good and the bad they are always what keeps me going.
