It's hard for me to believe I've served as senior pastor here at First Covenant for over 15 years. It continues to be a privilege to watch our church community embrace a shared mission and vision for how we are called to serve our broader East Side community and the world around us, reflecting the love of Jesus Christ in tangible ways that actually transform lives. I'm grateful to serve alongside committed, gifted and godly ministry team members--both those listed here and the many within our church community--who give so generously of their time, talents and financial support to make ministry happen. My husband, Gordy, supports me and the ministries of this church in countless (and often behind the scene) ways. This is our third year as host parents to Juliana Wu, an international student from China, in the 11th grade at Mounds Park Academy. She keeps us from being full "empty nesters" while Curtis completes his "second senior year" at North Park University and Charissa teaches sixth grade english at the International School in Cali, Colombia.

I have served as the Visitation Pastor at First Covenant Church for 14 years. I enjoy calling on those who are homebound, hospitalized and moving through transitional challenges in later life. This is my sweet spot in pastoral ministry. My wife, Jeannine and I are both energized about being participants in a variety of vital ministries in our church. We have three children and six grandchildren who definitely are our pride and joy. I enjoy working with wood, and fixing things around our home in South Minneapolis.

I was born and raised in Florida, but spent most of my life in Chicago as a member and co-pastor at Jesus People USA Covenant Church. In 2014, my wife Janet and I relocated to the Twin Cities, and soon thereafter I accepted a call to serve as the Executive Pastor at First Covenant Church of Saint Paul. It is my privilege to serve with a gifted and dedicated ministry team. My role is to help deal with the myriad of administrative challenges facing the church. I also help facilitate strategic partnerships with other churches, ministries and non-profits, and help design the Adult Spiritual Growth curriculum. I am blessed to walk alongside the diverse members of this faith community as we seek to have a positive impact on our East Saint Paul neighborhood and the wider world. Janet and I enjoy camping and hiking, having visited many of our national parks.
Minister to Children and Family

I am the Minister to Children and Family. I have the privilege of working with children and their families ages birth thru 6th grade. I strive to provide an environment that fosters building healthy relationships which helps children and families develop long-term faith in Jesus Christ. My favorite part of ministry is getting to hear people’s stories. I am a huge sports fan – any type of sports. Since I am originally from Northwest Indiana, I am and always have been a Chicago fan. However, since moving to Minnesota I have become a Gopher fan – Ski-u-mah (still not sure what this means). In the past few years I have begun enjoying doing wood working projects.
Minister to Youth + Families and Communications

I am the Minister to Youth, Families and Communications here at First Covenant. I've been on the Ministry Team for 11 years - what a journey! I love seeing people connect with the bigger picture of the Church and God's work throughout the world, and being able to help communicate that is truly exciting business. I love that this is a community where all ages can find places of belonging, grow in their belief in Jesus, and continue becoming who God has created them to be. When I'm not here, I'm at home with my son, husband and two cats. You'll find me digging in the garden, chasing after the kid, studying for school or enjoying a good book or movie.

As minister of Worship & Creative Arts, I have the privilege of working with groups of people of all ages. This position encompasses many diverse areas which go from directing the choir, handbell choir, worship teams, preparing major choral symphonic works, children and youth musicals with partner neighborhood elementary, middle and public high schools as well as working collaboratively with the worship design and ministry teams.
I am passionate in serving God at First Covenant St. Paul, because of how everything is lined up with the mission of our church.

Associate Minister of Youth, Family, and Worship

I am the Associate Minister of Youth, Family, and Worship at First Covenant Church. I graduated from Bethel University in the Spring of 2017. A fun fact about me is that I have been to India!
At First Covenant Church, I want to see youth take their faith seriously. As Christians, especially young ones, what does it mean to be a Christ-follower and how do we think deeply about our faith? These are the questions that I want all young Christians to ponder. This is what energizes me in my role; to be able to experience the genuine faith of our young people.
Organist, Keyboardist, Pianist
Within the church my passion is lifting up the Lord through music (Psalm 100). During the week I work at a Senior High School with Special Education students. As a grandma to 8 grandchildren, I enjoy attending their sporting and music events.
Gospel Choir Director
Steve Pittman, a Twin Cities native, is a gifted singer and musician who loves to inspire others through the gifts that God has given him. It is his hope, that as he utilizes those gifts, others will be compelled to have a deeper understanding and relationship with Christ.
Minister of Visitation
651-774-0344 ext 228
I was invited to join First Covenant in 1997 to work as Outreach Minister for 5 years. I returned with my wife in 2010 as I entered retirement. We were inspired to see this church make efforts to make room for new people as it lives out a continuing desire to demonstrate welcome and build relationships. It has been a privilege to find I could be utilized as minister of visitation and benevolence and work together with my wife in greeting youth and families as they register to attend various programs.

I have been working as the Office Coordinator at First Covenant Church since early 2013. I consider it a privilege to be in the office communicating with a variety of people in person, by phone or e-mail. FCC is a hub for many connections and it is exciting to be a small part of the whole, through helping up front and behind the scenes. Outside of FCC, I volunteer for a few local organizations, love exploring the new community I recently moved to, enjoy spending time outdoors walking my dog, and have fun getting together with friends.
